2025 All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards
offers $15,000 in prizes for investigative reporting
The Press Club of Cleveland is excited to announce a new opportunity for Ohio journalists and media outlets! We have partnered with the A-Mark Foundation to introduce The A-Mark Prize for Investigative Reporting in Ohio, an annual $15,000 prize to recognize outstanding investigative journalism in the Buckeye State.
This prize will be part of the All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards, celebrating the best journalism with an Ohio connection.
- 1st Place: $5,000 for the reporter(s) + $2,500 for the publishing outlet
- 2nd Place: $3,000 for the reporter(s) + $1,500 for the publishing outlet
- 3rd Place: $2,000 for the reporter(s) + $1,000 for the publishing outlet
Submission Details:
- Opens: Friday, Feb. 7, 2025
- Closes: Friday, March 14, 2025
Eligibility:
- Open to all Ohio-based news organizations, including newspapers, radio and TV broadcast outlets and digital-only platforms.
- Entries must have been published or aired between Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2024.
- Both standalone pieces and series of up to five pieces are eligible.
- Open to reporters, editors and freelance journalists with an Ohio connection.
For example:
- A Politico reporter covering Ohio politics who is based in Springfield qualifies.
- A Columbus Dispatch reporter living in Indianapolis qualifies.
“The A-Mark Foundation hopes that our grants will lead to increased recognition and support for investigative journalists across the United States,” said Tracey DeFrancesco, chief operating officer of A-Mark Foundation. “By offering monetary awards to both reporters and their outlets, we aim to encourage more impactful journalism that informs and inspires.”
Winners will be announced at the All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards ceremony on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland.
