DESCRIPTION:The Press Club of Cleveland’s Journalism Hall of Fame recognizes journalists who have made journalism matter in Cleveland and who have helped true journalism survive. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us in honoring this year’s inductees (l to r): Afi Scruggs\, an award-winning writer\, journalist and author who worked for The Plain Dealer and many other publications; Karl Turner\, news director at Spectrum 1 News\, former front page editor for The Plain Dealer and former director of content at cleveland.com; and Lou Maglio\, Fox 8 anchor/reporter and former producer/anchor/reporter at NEWS 5 (WEWS-TV). \n\n\n\n\nCLick Here for Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Chuck Heaton Award will be presented posthumously to John Betchkal\, who died in July 2024. He was 88. A longtime member of the Press Club’s board of directors\, Betchkal conceived the award in 2008 to honor his friend\, the late Chuck Heaton\, a longtime sports writer for The Plain Dealer.  \n\n\n\nThe Heaton Award is presented annually to the print\, radio\, online or television journalist who best exemplifies the sensitivity and humility that\, along with his journalism talent\, were traits exhibited by Heaton during his career at The Plain Dealer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
